Volunteer Job Descriptions

Indoor Practice Volunteer:

Fulfills 1 volunteer hour per shift.

There will be arena staff and coaches at each practice but having a parent volunteer to assist with set up, clean up, and monitoring the arena helps so coaches can focus on coaching. 


Set up and Monitor: This is for the first practice of each evening (currently 10U boys and 8U girls). Volunteers should arrive around 5:15/5:20. Helps coaches get equipment/balls out of the storage room and assist with set up as needed. After setting up, monitor the arena assisting as needed such as players needing a band-aid or ice pack, etc.. 


Monitor: This is for practices that are not the first or last practice of the evening but in the middle (currently 10U girls). Monitor the arena assisting as needed such as players needing a band-aid or ice pack.


Clean up and Monitor: This is for the team with the last practice of the evening (currently 12U boys and 12U/14U girls). Monitor the arena assisting as needed such as players needing a band-aid or ice pack. After practice, help coaches put equipment away and ensure all players are picked up from the arena before you leave.

Girls Youth Night Volunteer

Youth night is at the Roseville High School girls lacrosse game typically in the end of April or beginning of May. Youth attend for free with their jersey. JV game at 5:30, Varsity game at 7. Between the games, around 6:30, girl youth players can go onto the field with the HS players, stand during the national anthem, and then have their names announced. Volunteers are needed to help gather the girls, bring them to the field, collect names, and help coordinate the girls walking on and off the field. Volunteer shift is 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. 1 hour.

Boys Youth Night Volunteer

Boys youth night is as Roseville Area High School during the JV (5:30) and Varsity (7) games typically in the end of April or beginning of May. Youth players attend for free with their jersey. Players can be ball boys at each game, 2 at each end. Volunteers are needed, 1 at each end for each game, to supervise the ball boys. Between the JV and Varsity games, players will have their names announced on the field and will stand with varsity players during the national anthem. Volunteers are needed to assist with that as well. 1 volunteer hour per shift.


Parade Day Lead

Pick up the parade banner and supplies from Sarah. Parade day, check in our unit by 6 p.m. at the district center. Bring the banner, candy, and fliers to the parade staging area, set up the banner and wagons with candy, walk the parade, and collect the leftovers and banner at the end. Sarah will coordinate with you to hand off these items and to pick them up after the parade. This will fulfill the 5 season volunteer hours or more if you have more than 1 player. 1-2 volunteers needed for this.

Parade Walking Volunteers, Water Donations and Wagons

RAYLA has a unit in the Rosefest Parade to advertise and grow the program. Looking for volunteers to walk with the kids and help hand out fliers and candy. Also need volunteers to donate water for the parade walkers and wagons to use to hold water and supplies. Parade walkers will receive 3 volunteer hours. Water donations and wagons will receive 1 volunteer hour each.

Team Manager

This position fulfills season volunteer requirement. Team managers help coaches communicate with families through CrossBar chat and messages, work with volunteer coordinator to make sure home game duties are fulfilled (field set up and time clock/score table), and coordinate tournament tents, snacks, lunches, etc. It's a fun way to get to know other parents and help for a fun and successful season for your team!

Team Photographer

Take photos of the team during practices, games, fun activities, etc. Upload photos on a Google Drive (board member will set up and get this info to the team photographers). Photos from a minimum of 5 different dates will fulfill the season volunteer requirement of 5 volunteer hours per player.

Volunteer Coordinator

Set up and record volunteer hours in CrossBar. Communicate with volunteers and ensure shifts are covered.

Two Options:

  1. Join monthly board meetings regularly and be involved in volunteer related decisions. Also enter volunteer shifts and record hours in Crossbar, communicate with volunteers, and ensure all shifts are filled. This will cover the season 5 volunteer hours plus be eligible for partial or full player registration reimbursement at the end of the season.
  2. Do not join monthly board meetings and receive information about volunteer needs from the board to enter in CrossBar. Communicate with volunteers and ensure all shifts are covered. This will cover the season 5 volunteer hours.

Field and Equipment Manager

Ensure field bins have needed supplies and report to the board any field or equipment needs or issues. Move equipment and boxes to and from the arena at the beginning and end of spring practices and to and from the RAMS fields at the beginning of outdoor practices and at the end of the season.

Two Options:

  1. Join monthly board meetings regularly and be involved in equipment and field related decisions including ordering equipment. Coordinate field use agreements and communicate with the RAMS facility/grounds person to ensure fields are lined and nets are on the fields at the beginning of the season so and stored at the end of the season. This will cover the season 5 volunteer hours plus be eligible for partial or full player registration reimbursement at the end of the season.
  2. Do not join monthly board meetings but receive information about fields and equipment from the board to complete tasks as needed. Ensure field boxes are stocked and fields are lined reporting issues to a board member. This will cover the season 5 volunteer hours and possibly cover more for parents with more than 1 player.

Social Media and Advertising

Post on the RAYLA Instagram page. Send RAYLA fliers to the schools through the communication website. A minimum of 10 posts will fulfill the 5 volunteer hour requirement for the season.

Fundraising

Reach out to local businesses with our form letter to ask for sponsorship/donations. Coordinate dine out nights at local restaurants for fundraisers (typically this involves emailing/calling the fundraising contact at the restaurant, coordinating a date, and obtaining the flier for the fundraiser). Volunteer hours for the season would be fulfilled and depending on the amount of outreach/time spent on this, could be eligible for partial player registration reimbursement.
