Field Setup/Take Down, Time Clock/Score Table, and Score Reporting Information

Field Setup/Take down

  • Field supplies are located in the shed near the parking lot at the top of the stadium field at RAMS. There is a lock box on the handle with the shed key in it. Please get the code from a coach, volunteer coordinator, team manger, or any board member. Open the lock box, then open the shed.
  • There are 2 field containers with yellow lids. The bins are HEAVY so please be careful and you will want to drive you car down to the shed to put the bin in your car to drive it to the upper fields games. Each bin has all supplies needed except a chair which are next to the bins. Take a chair if you need one. There is a grey bin with extra field supplies if needed. If both containers with yellow lids are gone from the shed, that means both are already at the fields and need to be used to set up the field when the other game is completed.
  • Supplies that are in each yellow lid bin: 4 rectangle pylons, 6 cones, 10 yellow and 10 white game day balls (yellow for girls, white for boys), score table, score board, clock/timer, game book, air horn (or use an air horn noise on your phone), and instructions.
  • Set 4 pylons, one at each corner; set cones per appropriate field marking (diagrams included with instructions and links for each field type below). Confirm with ref/coaches.
  • 3-5 extra balls should be placed at ONE end of the field spread out behind the goals, about 2 feet outside of the field area. (The opposing team should provide balls for their end of the field.)
  • Sideline table, score board, score book, pen, time clock, air horn, and chair should be placed on the teams side of the field approx. 10 feet from the sideline at the center field line. Have remaining extra game balls at the score table.
  • At the conclusion of the game, if there is not another game after, collect all items that were placed on the field and return to the storage shed, including: balls, cones, score table equipment, etc.
  • Lock the storage shed.

Score table/Time clock

  • Test the game clock and horn prior to the start of the game; game clock instructions are in the clock box. Extra batteries are in the bin. You can use your phone timer as a backup.
  • Penalties should be tracked on the game sheet/book. Include team, player number, reason for penalty, and length (will be provided by the ref).
  • When a player is given a 2 minute penalty, it is easiest to set a timer for the penalty on your phone.
  • Give the player a 20 second warning and then a 5 second countdown.
  • RUNNING CLOCK means the game clock runs continuously without stopping unless the official calls for a card, injury/emergency timeout, or team timeout. Please confirm with the refs at the start of the game if the time will stop for time outs and how they will signal to you that you should stop the clock.
  • Game Time Girls (Confirm with ref before the start of the game):
  • 8U: Four 8 minute quarters, 5 minute half time, running clock unless official signals to stop the clock. Ask ref about break time between quarters.
  • 10U and 12U: Four 10 minute quarters, 5 minute half time, running clock unless official signals to stop the clock. Ask ref about break time between quarters.
  • 14U: Four 12 minute quarters, 5 minute half time, running clock unless official signals to stop the clock. Ask ref about break time between quarters.
  • Game Time Boys (Confirm with ref before the start of the game):
  • 10U, 12U, and 14U: Four 12 minute quarters.
  • Ask ref about half time length and time between quarters.
  • Refs and coaches are more than willing to help and answer any questions you have!
  • Please post the final game score for home games in the Crossbar App chat so that the boys’ and girls’ teams coordinators can enter the scores officially.

Game Score Reporting Process

**New to the 2026 Season**

Scores can now be updated by the public on Tourney Machine THROUGH THE WEB BROWSER NOT APP instead of by filling out the Game Score Report Form. We do still ask that both teams submit the score, although the first team to submit it will be posted. Should scores be incorrect, please email kathryn@greatnorthernlacrosse.com for a score correction. Hopefully this makes the process of getting all the scores in easier.
